Nikon Lovers Rejoices As ZY Optics Announces Their New Entry Speedmaster 20mm f/0.95 lens
Last Updated/Info Checked on February 14, 2024 by Kimberly K.
ZY Optics otherwise known as Zhong Yi Optics blesses us once again with a crazy fast lens that is been dubbed as the “Speedmaster 20mm with an aperture size of f/0.95 that is designed especially for Nikon Z mount cameras.
That’s right, as the name suggests, the lens is a work of wonder and undoubtedly comes with insane level specifications making it extremely ideal for landscape low light photography due to its extremely massive aperture size.
Our team knew very well this news was going to send shockwaves which is why we digged thoroughly into the specifications and churned up impressive details such as:
- First of all, the minimum focusing distance is amazing as it is merely 0.3m which intrigued me because most of the prime lenses struggle at close distance.
- On the other hand, the lens also boasts a massive aperture size of lf f/0.95, completely eliminating the ratio of noise and other image distortion popping up during night photography.
- ZY Optics also utilized several advanced lens elements in the design like aspherical, ED, and high refractive index lenses to control aberrations and reduce distortions. Apparently, it’s been said that there will be 13 elements in 8 groups in total, boy I cannot wait to get my hands on this lens.
- Being an aftermarket lens, the exterior quality also matters to me quite a lot, however, Zhong YI claims the lens is made from top-of-the-line metal housing all while having a filter thread of 72mm, so it is safe to conclude this bad boy will last in rough outdoor scenarios with ease.
David, my best friend and my mentor in the photography world who is also a part of our team even commented on the lens claiming “Once I get my hands on this lens, I am going to be going haywire on its ultra-wide aperture as I hated fiddling around with the ISO settings, the noise in low light scenarios was insane, I already see this lens being my daily driver especially whenever I am shooting indoors.
But that’s not all, even Facebook camera geeks are also rumbling about the beauty of this lens, one comment that caught my attention was “On paper, the specs have me thoroughly impressed because with a maximum aperture of f/0.95 is insanely wide for such an affordable lens.” And it’s no surprise that it Garnered tons of likes on the post.
However, before we jump into the bandwagon, let not forget the fact that this lens lacks autofocus capabilities and if you are a rookie photographer you might have to think twice about this one when investing your hard-earned cash in it because a lens without Autofocus tends to have a higher learning curve. As for me, I always keep my trusty old tripod in my backpack, so I believe will be off to a good start because the aperture size is all I am rooting for.
Keep in mind that this lens is up for grabs for around 500 dollars. Any lens that is sharp with such a wide aperture with such a price tag is worth exploring in my book because being a camera enthusiast I have always been a camera freak that loves to experiment around with new gear. Stay tuned because once I get my hands on this lens the lab results are undoubtedly will be wild.
Because, the word of the manufacturer alone isn’t going to cut it, in order to keep the bias aside, we must ensure the lens goes through our testing phase so our readers can get a transparent insight into whether or not it is worth the investment.
In the meantime, how about you comment on your views regarding cameras and their accessories that you are so eagerly waiting to get your hands on this year if you have any doubts or comments relating to this news, feel free to drop them in the comment section below, I would be glad to sort you out.
