Breaking the ice with the most versatile gimbal in the market for the Canon T7i, the Zhiyun Weebill S.

Overall Build Quality

Upon unboxing this gimbal, its build quality instantly mesmerized me because even though the arms were made from solid metal, the whole structure surely felt incredibly lightweight and so I decided to put it on a measuring scale, only to find that the gimbal weighed 920 grams which is quite remarkable.

Using lightweight gimbals highly enhances the portability factor and allows you to perform your photo session even for longer periods of time without straining your wrist.

Payload Threshold

Since there was no official word from the Zhiyun, I had to do my own personal stress testing by mounting the Canon T7i and pairing it up with a couple of external accessories in order to determine whether or not it could take up the weight while being balanced in its optimal state.

After hours of lab tests, my results made me determine the theoretical payload threshold is around 3.5-4Kg and it’s safe to assume that you can easily pair it with this camera even while having a telephoto lens on.

The solid metal arms of this gimbal surely provide tangible support to the whole structure while the motors on each axis perform remarkably well and feel smooth like butter.

Smart Follow 2.0

The proprietary application acts as a wingman and enhances its features by including Smart Follow 2.0 which automatically locks the camera onto a subject and lets you track its movement without having you do work manually.

On the other hand, when hooked to your smartphone, you can also utilize the Via Touch 2.0 feature which lets you use touch control in your smartphone device and lets you configure options such as ISO settings and shutter speed so you can get creative, remotely.

Testing Results

The gimbal might feel lightweight when you carry it, nevertheless, it is nowhere near flimsy as every aspect of it is made from premium materials.

The finishing on its body also looks sleek and not only adds cosmetic value but also enhances its gripping.

Once connected to its proprietary app, it offers tons of configuration and even allows you to customize its trajectory for a more refined and in-depth control for your Canon T7i.

Reason for Recommendation

It has a very reliable locking system and is incredibly lightweight making it optimal for travel photographers.

2. DJI Ronin-SC

For casual purposes, there is no better choice than the DJI Ronin SC as it doesn’t cost much, has a compact design, and provides decent stabilization.

Modular Design

Fold it or take it apart, the choice is yours, it’s easy to set up and doesn’t require you to be tech-savvy, which is my favorite bit about this gimbal.

The whole infrastructure simply weighs around 2.43 on the measuring scale, so in case you decide to pop in your bag, it certainly won’t weigh you down.

On the bright side, in terms of build quality, the overall design is made from Aluminium composite, hence why it seems so lightweight yet sturdy while holding it in your hand.

The gripping on this thing is also quite commendable and undoubtedly comfortable even after hours of use and all the control buttons are tactically placed in such a way that you can easily configure the gimbal without feeling awkward or congested.

Sports Mode

The beauty of this gimbal certainly doesn’t end here, as it also offers a special mode which is basically an overclocked version of itself, when enabling all of its three axes like Pan, roll, and tilt becomes hyperactive and detects movement in the moment’s notice.

As the name suggests, this mode is oriented towards videography sessions performed during sports or any other occasions where the subject is moving really fast.

The gimbal ensures the focusing of your camera is snappy without any jitters or micro shakes so your cinematography comes out perfect, just like you desire.

Battery life

As for its battery life, the gimbal offers 11 hours of runtime on a single charge and requires 2 hours so that its reserves hit the 100% bar.

Keep in mind that the battery capacity is 2450mAh and there is no way you can remove it, which may be a little disappointing for some individuals, but for the price, it is listed and the whole host of handy features it offers, it easily overshadows any flaw it may have.

3. DJI RS 3 Pro – Best Handheld Gimbal for Canon T7i

Presenting you the top-of-the-line stabilization solution which is made from extended carbon fiber, however, it undoubtedly has a costly price tag.

Payload Specs

Let’s start the review with its technicalities, this bad boy is packing some serious integrity as it can hold up to 4.5 kilograms of weight without breaking a sweat.

While I have tried plenty of cameras and paired them up with bundles of accessories and bulky telephoto lenses, my experience with them is nothing but joyful as the level of stability it provides is smooth like butter.

Most “flagship” level gimbals tend to struggle when loaded with a payload that is barely pushing its payload capacity levels as the motors on each axis feel jittery, especially during sudden movement, but the DJI RS 3 Pro, holds itself just fine.

Sturdy & Solid

It also has a remarkable build quality as the arms are made from layers of carbon fiber which is no doubt lightweight but incredibly stiff enough to hold up the payload, even for years to come.

Having a higher level of integrity and resistance to wear and tear and accidentally mishandling automatically makes this gimbal the top choice for vloggers and filmmakers alike, no wonder this gimbal has been becoming so common top rated YouTubers.

Active Track Pro

Aside from all the other awesome goodies this gimbal boasts, you can even utilize its extremely precise LIDAR focusing mechanism which uses light imaging in order to accurately detect object surfaces even in dimly lit situations.

This flawless mechanism is backed by Active Track Pro which lets you focus and lock onto a subject from 14 meters away with its impeccable 43200 ranging points, is that amazing?

And if that’s not enough to satisfy your filmmaking needs, then you can invest a couple of extra bucks and get additional accessories such as Ronin Image Transmitter and focusing motor by having the DJI RS 3 Pro combo, which in my opinion is pretty sweet if you are often performing professional studio grade photo sessions.

Testing Results

One of my favorite aspects about the DJI RS 3 Pro is its perfectly detachable battery grip which is further bolstered with a locking system, giving you a thorough peace of mind while you are shooting.

The strongest selling point of this gimbal is its super responsive touch screen which is conveniently placed so your thumb can easily reach it. Hats to the manufacturer for investing in such a level of thought process that enhances the user experience.

Reason for Recommendation

It has lidar focusing and premium build quality making it extremely ideal for both casual and professional photographers.

4. DJI Ronin-S Gimbal for Canon t7i

An absolute powerhouse with a multitude of nifty features, the DJI Ronin S is easy to set up and an easy-to-assemble stability accessory.

Payload specifications

The reason I call it a powerhouse is that even though it looks sleek and has a minimalistic design, it can hold up payloads up to a whopping 8 pounds like an absolute unit.

To achieve cinematic shots with Canon T7i, having such a lofty payload threshold is incredibly important because you wouldn’t want to compromise on the balancing aspect of the gimbal.

Modular Design

You can literally take a gimbal apart piece by piece and store it in your bag and it won’t take up much space, which is quite nice and thoughtful by the manufacturer as it highly increases portability and eases travelers for those individuals that usually like to record videos and often finds themselves on the go.

Furthermore, the support for quick-release plates like Arca swiss and Manfrotto also ensures that you won’t be spending much time reassembling the camera while hooking it up on your tripod in case you are performing solo photoshoots.

Battery life

Obviously, you would be needing power in order to keep the triple axis holding your payload in its place in a firm position.

In terms of battery runtime, the 2400mah built-in battery on this thing provides 12 hours of gimbal usage which is more than enough to cover a wedding or public ceremony events with ease.

And I love how you can get back in action in less than hours, all thanks to the fast charging support as you can simply plug in the proprietary Type C and it would replenish the battery before you know it.

All in all, if you are in search of solid battery life, premium build quality, and an easy-to-set-up stabilization solution, then you should most certainly invest in the DJI Ronin-S.

Testing Results

The first thing I noticed once I loaded up my camera, is the fact of how generously wide and spacious the arms are, allowing free movement of the camera without any obstruction.

The gimbal also comes with a removable battery which also doubles as a grip extender all you have to slide right in and latches to the gimbal smoothly.

While I was testing and experimenting with a couple of basic and advanced techniques with this gimbal, I noticed the quick-release system also offers a super reliable locking system, giving you a sense of security for your precious gear.

Reason for Recommendation

It’s a gimbal designed for intermediate or casual photographers who don’t want to break the bank.

5. FeiyuTech SCORP Pro – Best Gimbal for Canon T7i

The second pick in this list is for those professional filmmakers who usually work with extraordinary camera rigs, as the payload specification of the Scorp Pro is exceptionally high.

Payload Capacity

One of the best attributes of this gimbal is that no camera rig is too challenging to lift up while balancing it.

Due to the fact that it has a marvelous payload capacity of 10.6 pounds, simply using your Canon T7i on this gimbal without any aftermarket accessory can be easily regarded as overkill.

Low Center of Gravity

The reason behind its high structural integrity is that the gimbal boasts a low center of gravity design and allows 5-dimensional adjustment of the payload, not only this increase precision while fine-tuning each axis but it makes the whole build even more flexible, so you can get those neat and perfect shots you always wanted, especially in videography.

Apart from having such a flawless design, you can even use its underslung grip to attain even better looking “low or high angle” shots, saving you the time and energy you would otherwise crouch walking especially while performing videography where it could be taxing on your knees.

It also has a cradle that offers a bookmarking system which is identified by a red dot, giving you an idea of where you previously positioned your camera, so you won’t be tweaking it every time you hook it up to your gimbal.

Detachable Handle with Touchscreen

What’s even surprising, is that under such a handsome price tag, the gimbal has so much to offer that it makes it harder for rival counterparts to compete.

Let’s take the detachable grip, for example, it offers a dedicated “M” button which lets you enter somatic mode and allows you to remotely control the gimbal even from a distance.

Furthermore, it also has a 1.3-inch touch screen integrated into it, through which you can customize the shutter speed, ISO, and exposure of the camera.

Testing Results

Right on top of the handle, there is a small screen that gives you an insight into the gimbal and has a couple of nifty menus such as Sensor and axis control which allows you to customize its speed that is suitable to the scenario you are performing your videography session at.

Another interesting thing about this gimbal is that it even boasts mini tripod legs, giving you temporary stability especially if you are shooting solo.

Reason for Recommendation

It has a justifiable price tag and offers a whole host of features that you won’t find elsewhere.

6. Zhiyun Crane 2S – Best Budget Gimbal for Canon T7i

Next in the line is the Mighty Zhiyun Crane 2s which offers much more than you can imagine at a consumer-friendly price tag.

Dynamic Stability

Whether you want to use your camera outdoors for a quick vlog or simply want to capture some beautiful stills indoors, no matter the terrain or how snappy your movements are, the Crane 2s shells out remarkable performance when it comes to stability and firmness.

Powered by the new 9th Instune algorithm, this gimbal goes well and beyond and provides a highly rapid counter mechanism against all three axes without any visible delays, so all your videos look smooth, cinematic, and professional.

As for its payload strength, you can easily load up around 3 kilograms of weight without worrying about the balancing system going haywire.

Axis Locking Switch

If you are a vlogger, youtube, or content creator, chances are you are making videos on a regular basis to keep your audience entertained.

And it is certain that you will also be traveling a lot, which makes packing or storing your gear a little bit challenging because you wouldn’t want your precious gear to get damaged while you are moving from one place to another.

Just with a flick of a switch, the gimbal locks/unlocks all three axes in order to provide easy movement and storage of your gimbal, which is quite innovative.

Battery life

Unlike other gimbals in the market, this one offers removable batteries and provides a runtime of up to 11 hours.

The removable aspect of the batteries also enhances the traversal experience because you can carry an extra set of batteries and replace it whenever your primary lithium-ion cells deplete.

7. Zhiyun – Best Weebill Gimbal for Canon T7i

Last but definitely not least is the Zhiyun Weebill 2 which is powered by an incredibly robust chip and has cutting technologies incorporated into it, here is my review of it.

Outstanding Stability

In order to satisfy the ever-growing needs of consumers, Zhiyun took things to the next level by introducing the world to their cutting-edge top-of-line Infineon two-filter interruption vector-splitting sensor.

In other words, it detects minute levels of movements that may ruin your video content or disrupt your focusing mechanism while taking breathtaking stills.

It is evident that while three-axis stabilization does an amazing job on these sorts of gimbals, sometimes the camera shakes especially while using long-range telephoto lenses may appear which are harder to counter or control.

This technology will minimize jitters that arise not just from moving from one place to another but will also fix wrist movement and make your videography smooth as a hot knife in a piece of butter.

Retractable Screen

In addition to that, you don’t even need to hook up your phone in order to configure the gimbal or camera settings via touch input because this gimbal also has a nifty 2.88 inches color screen which lets offers plenty of handy features such as movement speed, shutter speed, exposure, and ISO settings.

Isn’t that amazing? Because now you are able to balance your gimbal and dive into action with just a couple of taps on the screen.

Ultra Fast Charging

While comparing it to other gimbals in the list in my lab, I believe this one easily takes the cake because it supports fast charging through Type C up to a whopping 24W and tops up its battery reserves in less than 1 hour.

In other words, while using this gimbal you can have hours of filmmaking action with little to no downtime, it’s truly marvelous how far technology has advanced in terms of performance and convenience to the users.
